Eagle Bay Boats was founded in 2020 just as the world was shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, during the Adirondack 90 Miler Canoe Race, Mike Rooney met and spoke with several wooden boat craftsmen and a love of strip built boats was launched. The kayaks at left are the first two boats ever made at Eagle Bay Boats. Each boat is handcrafted from the finest hardwoods sourced from locations all along the east coast from Annapolis to the Adirondacks.
The boats were launched in Eagle Bay, NY, a quiet hamlet on Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks in 2021.
Mike continues to craft custom strip built kayaks near his home in Media, PA. Each kayak is an individual work of art. No two are alike.
