This past weekend I took the Solo Microbootlegger out on Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks. From Eagle Bay beach, I paddled along the coast to Eagle Creek and was instantly reminded of the speed and stability of the boat. It was a rough day on the water, but swells and white caps could not slow this boat down. The design of this boat by Nick Schade is very impressive. The custom wood strip construction looks great, but the performance deserves equal attention.
Just by chance, there is a Classic and Antique Wooden Boat show this weekend (July 9th) in Old Forge, New York and both the Solo Microbootlegger (14.5 ft lake kayak) and our Guillemot (17 ft sea kayak) will be there on display. If you are in the area and want to see both in person we would love to see you. If you would like to arrange a paddle on First Lake after the end of the show we would be happy to accommodate.
