Currently we have two finished kayaks in inventory, ready for delivery. We call this model our Eagle Bay Cruiser because is it perfect for the lakes in the Adirondacks. They are 14 ft long, 26 inch beam, design displacement 259 lbs., and a draft of 3.84 inches. It is long enough that is cuts across the lake wakes to provide a smooth and level ride, has a slipstream shape to cut through the water, and includes a retractable skeg to keep you straight. The internal and external skin is strong and robust fiberglass with more than 10 layers of varnish to protect the surface and provide a smooth slipper surface.
Both boats use four wood types for the core of the boat, white cedar, Spanish cedar, Sapele mahogany, and black walnut. Each boat uses a unique combination of these four wood types to create two distinct boats. Look closely, and you can see the many differences in the details that create a unique and original style.
Build Plans for 2023-2024
We are taking orders for this next build season. I love the design of the Eagle Bay Cruiser but I would rather make a unique and personalized kayak for you. Building season starts October 1st and ends the week of the North Carolina Wooden Boat show, the first weekend in May. Within that time frame we can construct three (3) custom Eagle Bay Cruisers. Delivery schedules for the three boats are as follows:
- First boat start October 1 and finished December 31st.
- Second boat start January 1 and finished March 1st.
- Third boat start March 2nd and finished May 1st.
The summer time is for kayaking so all work in the shop stops until the next build cycle.
